Elena Barbagelata was born and raised in real estate - it’s in her blood. Her father John started Barbagelata Real Estate, “BarbCo,” in San Francisco over 70 years ago on the foundation of integrity, strong values, and a commitment to excellence. He encouraged his eight children to follow his lead, which motivated Elena to begin working in the family business at an early age.
She has been a licensed agent for over 29 years and has a deep, working knowledge of every aspect of the real estate industry. With the heart of a teacher, Elena focuses on guiding and advising her clients through one of the most important financial and personal decisions of their lives…the purchase or sale of a home.
Elena is adept in all facets of real estate, including single-family homes, multi-family properties, investment properties, 1031 exchanges, divorce-related sales, and trust and probate transactions. She is as comfortable working with first-time buyers as she is representing luxury clients. In addition to her extensive experience as a sales professional, Elena has owned, managed, and renovated properties throughout San Francisco and the North Bay giving her firsthand insight into property value, construction, and long-term investment strategy.
A Certified Real Estate Negotiator, Elena is known for her calm confidence, strategic thinking, and strong advocacy at the negotiating table. She protects her clients’ interests with precision and discretion, whether navigating competitive multiple-offer situations or complex estate transactions.
A third-generation San Franciscan, Elena has called Marin home for many years, where she raised her three children. She offers deep knowledge of San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, and Sonoma Counties, understanding not only the individual character of each community, but also how the markets connect and influence one another.
After college, Elena moved to Europe, where she spent several years teaching English to the Italian Air Force and business professionals. During that time, she became fluent in Italian and Spanish. When she returned home she worked public relations and marketing, but eventually, all roads led Elena right back to her roots, where she felt most firmly planted - Real Estate!
Outside of work, Elena loves to cook, ski, run with her dogs, make music, entertain family and friends, and travel. She has a deep affection for Italy and continues to embrace the culture, language, and lifestyle that inspire her.
